My dad Vern Rossen started my love for waterfowling when I
was young, I was eight years old. He
used to take me duck hunting with his best freind Joe Marquardt and his son Bob
Marquardt who in turn became my best freind. We hunted the Mississippi river
bottoms at a place called Spring Lake located in Minnesota it was a place of
wonder and adventure for eight year old kid.
I remember looking through the blind made out of weatherd
drift wood & vegitation and plugging my ears as I watched my dad and his
freind Joe shoot ducks, dad with his Berretta o/u silver pigeon he bought in
the navy for $165 and Joe with his trusty Stevens 12 guage side by side.

I grew up in a home with alcoholism and verbal abuse; my
Father was a strict disciplinarian. My
Father was the type of Dad back then that used phrases like "If I say sh-t
you will say what color", "If I say jump you will say how high",
"I'll hit you so hard you have to open your zipper to spit" and
"I'll give you a bump so big it will take a piss and a year to walk over
it".

John Akehurst started hunting
with his father at an early age. Building
deer stands and building blinds. Late
nights making new silhouettes out of wood and full bodies out of tires and hose
where the decoys of choice do to cost.
His dad at one time had bought about 2 dozen shell decoys to intersperse
between the homemade "Junkyard rig".
Many memories of sitting in a pit or in a
blind or deer stand with his dad are etched into his mind. Sometimes, even
sitting on his mom's lap in a pit while his dad and his two older brothers
would fill their limits of geese on the infamous Eastern Shore of
Maryland. There were days when it was so
cold, that he couldn't feel his feet but he did not want to say anything
because he wanted to stay and keep hunting.
John recalls shooting his first goose at the
age of nine while walking thru the field of decoys with his dad on their way in
for lunch. There are so many memories of
times spent hunting with one of his favorite hunting partners William Akehurst
/ Dad (1935-2005). These memories will
always be with him. Now the time has
come where John makes new memories and shares the love of hunting, the outdoors
and the Creator with his son, and many others who go with him.
Most any weekend and any other chance he gets
during the season, John can be found in a pit or layout blind with calls in one
hand and gun in the other looking for the thrill of viewing cupped wings and
feet down as geese begin to touch down in the decoys.

Going through life is much like hunting. The more time spent pursuing your game, the
more you will understand it, learn from it, and the better your success will
be. Having a passion for Christ, and
spending the time with Him, will make you better at becoming what you were
created to become.
I grew up in a good Christian home. I am blessed to have God fearing parents who
gave and taught me and allowed me to have a solid foundation in Jesus Christ. Now with my wife at my side, we have the
opportunity to pass the legacy onto my family and those with whom we come in
contact with. It is my wish that others
can start to build their own foundations on the solid rock of Jesus Christ,
because He holds the answers to all of life (Isaiah 40:10-31).
Callers for Christ is a great organization,
they not only help the contest caller, or hunter to improve their techniques,
but it also is a God centered organization that helps to show persons the real
answers to life: "But they who wait on
the LORD, shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like
eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
(Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

I spent a
lot my youth exploring the shores of the Bay
of Green Bay, my parents raised us a
short bicycle ride from the West Shore or Green Bay and
mouth of the Fox River. Once I was old enough
to hunt we would fill the Paper route sacks with decoys and race to the cat tails
hoping to find a blind open, at 41 years old I am still hunting those
shorelines and islands! In addition to the proximity of our home my parents
also had a cottage on a beautiful lot of land with a lake across the road that
was stocked with Pan fish and Bass. So I was introduce to hunting, fishing and
all the great outdoors has to offer at a very young age.

This
Ministry has been an incredible platform for me to spread the Gospel and give
Jesus a visual presence. Does not matter whether it's a contest, seminar or
speaking engagement, people identify immediately with the Cross in the logo on
my shirt and more importantly the name, bold across the front and back,"
Callers for Christ".

I didn't start in the Waterfowl fun and games until I was about 34
years old. Yes, I was a late bloomer in the really fun and
beautiful sport. As a female I didn't just wake up one day and say
"hey, I want to hunt".
But my son Jake and my Brother Shane would go
and come back with these really great stories of skies that were
blackened with ducks and as the sun came up the guns were a blazen' !

Callers
for Christ have been a great experience for me due to the fact that the site
has showed me how to be real and true about my self and my walk with
God. That the outdoors can be fun and educating and that God can truly
take anything and make it good for his name-sake. God is glorified in so
many ways and Callers For Christ is one of them.

I started duck hunting when I was 11 with my dad. I picked up goose
hunting a few years ago. I mostly hunt big Canada's in Minnesota but I love
chasing snows and blues in Canada and in the special spring season.
There are few things in life that compare to the grace and beauty of waterfowling
across the prarie. God has blessed all of us who have.

I first started with Callers for Christ at its first meeting. I have
been touched and blessed with a deeper more meaningfull relationship with
God through it. CFC has also made me a more complete caller.
Remember this
"What we do in life echo's in eternity." GOD BLESS ALL.

My hunting career started early in my life. I have been going pheasant hunting with my
dad ever since I can remember, and it has always been a great way for my dad,
my brother and me to get to spend quality time together. I started hunting ducks when I was 10 years
old.

I joined Callers for Christ in the summer of 2006 and saw immediate
growth in both my faith walk and my calling success. I have been a
"Christian" most of my life, but Callers for Christ really allowed me
to get in touch with Christ on a whole new level... His level.

Jason was born and raised in Southern Indiana and grew up
hunting whitetail deer in the corn belt of the Midwest. Throughout my teenage
years, I was a full-blown deer hunter, using every weapon imaginable chasing
the elusive trophies of the Midwest.

I grew up on the famous Eastern Shore of Maryland. Living here all my life, I have been
surrounded by several Champion goose callers, and countless numbers of
hunters. Although, it's hard to believe
I didn't really pick up a strong passion, or obsession, for waterfowl hunting until
I was about 17 years old. I grew up
without access to hunt geese anywhere.
Sure, my father and I got one or two invites a year, but that just
wasn't enough for me.
I began hunting with my best friend, Nick Bramble, who
recently passed away and is now in Heaven with God. He was my "hunting buddy" and always will
be. He strengthened me as a hunter, and
as a person.

Callers for Christ is exactly what I've dream
about! Gathering together to share God's Word and mixing in waterfowl
hunting! What else can top that?!?! Being with people who share
God's love as well as a passion for waterfowl is a mighty fine crowd to be
around. The first time I had learned of C.F.C, I knew I wanted to get
involved somehow. I just wasn't sure on what I could do as a servant of
God. ;I know this will bring me closer to God and hopefully I can
attract some "lost" souls out of the darkness and into God's
light!

My name is Brett Neffendorf. I am 20 years old and live in Corvallis,
OR. I attend Oregon State University where I am
majoring in Education in hopes of becoming a high school History teacher as
well as a baseball coach. I was introduced to Waterfowl hunting by my dad at the
young age of 10 and ever since then my interest in the sport has become much
more than a passion, it's become a year round obsession. When I became hooked
on the sport of water fowling I took up the challenge to finish birds’ closer
day in and day out. By learning how to communicate with birds through calling I
have become more and more successful each year. I've been fascinated by calling
since I was introduced to the sport which has lead me to my newest passion of
competing on stage in duck calling competitions.
You can find me in the field over 60 days a year chasing ducks and geese in the
fall and winter, along with turkeys in the spring. I also enjoy big game hunting
which was introduced to me at the age of 12 by my grandpa. If you can't find me
in the field with a gun I'm coaching baseball, football, or chasing bass
throughout Oregon.

In the past few years of my life I have wondered how my passion for waterfowl
hunting can help spread god's love for us. At the beginning of the 2007
waterfowl season I came across Shane's website. After corresponding with Shane
for a few months, praying, and reaching out to fellow outdoors man, I have come
to realize that Callers for Christ is a great opportunity not only for me but
the Oregon
waterfowl community.

Adam McSparran got his waterfowling start in middle school in Sumter,
SC. A school friend and his older brother introduced him to the sport,
and provided most of the equipment and resources to be able to hunt
with them. After moving to Rock Hill, SC with his mother, Di Bryce, at
the age of 14, their finances did not provide enough for Adam to buy
his own equipment to continue his passion for waterfowling. Adam joined
the Army after high school, and after his first deployment, was able to
start hunting again. He is now a Field Staffer for Buck Gardner Calls
and an avid supporter of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and Delta Waterfowl.

First off, I am completely humbled that God has called me to this
ministry. I will be the first to tell you that looking back on the
things that I have done in my life, that I surely do not feel like I am
qualified to be a state chapter president. It was something that I
prayed hard about, and honestly didn't think I was the right person for
this position when Shane approached me about it. I struggled with it
for a few days, trying to find an excuse not to do it. But God affirmed
His decision for me when Shane told me a quote that my Pastor also said
in a recent message: "God does not call the qualified-He qualifies the
called." How can you honestly say NO to that?! That by far is the most
pivotal quote that has helped me in my Walk with Christ. Everyday I
don't feel "qualified" to even talk to God. But as the Bible says in
Mark 2:17, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I
have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
