Thoughts Sportsmen often struggle in building quality relationships with other men. We most often prefer to just get alone in the woods or on the water to pursue our hunting or fishing hobbies; and there is certainly a place for become effective forums for “connecting” with other outdoor enthusiasts for the purpose of sharing our Christian faith.Jesus “connected” with the twelve disciples by using outdoor illustrations and parables. On a couple of occasions, He merely spoke the language that outdoorsmen understood, especially noted when he told Peter to drop his nets and follow him to become a “fisher of men.” In our current day and age, the process can be just as simple if we purpose to have a few tools in our hands, readily available, such as a camouflaged pocket Bible, sportsman’s magazine or tract. Action Point The next time you make plans to invite a family member, neighbor, or friend to join you on a hunting or fishing trip, you might consider some important advanced planning by first asking God for an open door of opportunity to share the greatest story ever told about the greatest fisherman who ever lived–Jesus Christ, the Master Fisherman!An important part of your planning process might be to order several pocket camouflaged Bibles to distribute to fellow sportsmen! such time alone to reflect.
