With only 5 hunters on the shoot this weekend I think we did well.
Here a simple breakdown: Fri night 2, Sat morning 19, Sat night 22 ,Sun morning  17, Sun night 20.
Saturday night was awesome we were on a long  gravel bed in a narrow valley and on arriving about an hour before sunset
there was goose sign all over the gravel bed, so we put out 8 shells and dug in. As the light faded the Geese come in, they actually
had to go into a spiraling decent to get down to the valley floor, with up to about 300 geese coming down that is something I've never seen before it was amazing. But it was hard to get them down with that many in the air but when it got dark it was all on.
I also brought a  FA goose flag, by the end of the weekend they were sold on the effectiveness of a flag.
As for the number I shoot, 32 birds in all

Wilson and some of our birds From Saturday morning

These are Three birds I shoot after climbing up to them, you can see the gravel area we shoot Saturday night

a bit hard to see the geese but they were there!

Awesome.

Three questions:

1.  When are you going again?

&

2.  What's the closest airport to you?

&

3.  You got room for me at your house?

Wishin I was out there with you.  Looks like loads of fun.

Yesterday and again this morning our birds are movin out of here headin north again.  I have to wait until September.  Please Keep posting up what you are donig this season as we are now in the off season here.

Yes night shooting is legal and fun, follow this and read http://www.fishandgame.org.nz/Site/Regions/NelsonMarlborough/huntinggooseshoots.aspx
Its great when at 15 yards you finally see the geese your been calling at blind, come out of the dark flying at head height coming your way! Shocked
lets say I used about 75 rounds for the weekend.
There were 23 teams on the hunt getting 769 geese for the weekend, with the top team getting 184 geese, the top three teams ( 184, 98, 80) getting just under 1/2 the birds.
As for when I'm going out again, the 2nd of May our duck season starts. so it's out with the duck call seven weeks to go.
